The mineralocorticoid receptor is a nuclear hormone receptor for aldosterone and glucocorticoids. It acts as a transcription factor to regulate the water-salt homeostasis and blood pressure in the target cell. It also plays physiological roles in kidney, brain and cardiovascular system.
