Formoterol fumarate is a long-acting β2-adrenergic receptor agonist, commonly used to treat asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It improves symptoms of dyspnea by selectively stimulating β2-adrenergic receptors in bronchial smooth muscles, causing bronchiectasis.
