Terlipressin acetate is a vasopressin analogue that is a synthetic derivative of the pituitary hormone. It exerts a powerful vasoconstriction effect by highly selective activation of vasopressin V1 receptors on vascular smooth muscle, thereby raising vascular resistance and increasing blood pressure.
