Pelargonidin-3,5-O-diglucoside chloride
Pelargonidin-3,5-O-diglucoside chloride (CAS 17334-58-6) is a major anthocyanin component in pigmented rice, with core bioactivities including antioxidant, free radical scavenging, antitumor, and hypoglycemic effects, targeting aldose reductase (exerting inhibitory activity) and redox-related pathways to counter oxidative stress. It exhibits dose-dependent antioxidant capacity, with a slope coefficient of -2.04 ± 0.10 in the DPPH radical scavenging assay and an ORAC assay activity of 1.067 ± 0.043; its antitumor activity is reflected in inhibiting human tumor cell growth and inducing cell cycle arrest or apoptosis, while it also ameliorates hyperglycemia by regulating glucose metabolism-related processes. As a natural plant-derived compound with good biocompatibility, it serves as a potential functional ingredient for food and pharmaceutical products targeting oxidative stress-related diseases and metabolic disorders.
