Liraglutide
Liraglutide (CAS 204656-20-2) is a peptide-based agonist targeting the glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R), a G protein-coupled receptor predominantly expressed in pancreatic β cells and vascular endothelial cells. Activation of GLP-1R facilitates glucose-dependent insulin secretion and maintains glucose homeostasis. In endothelial cell studies (C11-STH^20), liraglutide (100 nM) reduced expression of plasminogen activator inhibitor type-1 (PAI-1) and vascular adhesion molecules, mitigating endothelial dysfunction. In ApoE^-/- mice, liraglutide administration (300 μg/kg, twice daily, subcutaneously) increased endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) and decreased intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) expression, effects mediated specifically through GLP-1R signaling. These properties make liraglutide valuable for research on endothelial function and vascular complications in diabetic contexts.
