Hydrogen Peroxide Colorimetric Assay Kit (Water-Compatible)

As a key reactive oxygen species (ROS) produced during cellular metabolism, hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) plays an important signaling role in physiological processes such as cell proliferation, differentiation, and immune response. However, when intracellular H₂O₂ levels are abnormally elevated, it induces a series of oxidative damage events, including protein carboxylation and lipid peroxidation. Studies have shown that dysregulation of H₂O₂ levels is implicated in aging, cancer, and neurodegenerative diseases. Therefore, detecting H₂O₂ concentrations in biological samples is crucial for elucidating its mechanisms of action in physiological and pathological processes.

The Hydrogen Peroxide Colorimetric Assay Kit (Water-Compatible) is designed for the colorimetric detection and quantification of hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) content. The assay is based on the principle that under acidic conditions, H₂O₂ oxidizes Fe²⁺ to Fe³⁺. The resulting Fe³⁺ ions then react with a specific dye (provided in the kit) to form a colored complex. This complex exhibits a maximum absorption peak at 560 nm (or 590 nm), and its absorbance is directly proportional to the concentration of H₂O₂ in the sample. This kit is optimized for aqueous-phase samples. It can be used to monitor protein glycosylation, assess the extent of protein oxidation indirectly, and quantify the amount of hydrogen peroxide present in the sample.
