Hydrogen Peroxide Colorimetric Assay Kit (Lipid-Compatible)
As a key reactive oxygen species (ROS) produced during cellular metabolism, hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) plays an important signaling role in physiological processes such as cell proliferation, differentiation, and immune response. However, when intracellular H2O2 levels are abnormally elevated, it induces a series of oxidative damage events, including protein carboxylation and lipid peroxidation. Studies have shown that dysregulation of H2O2 levels is implicated in aging, cancer, and neurodegenerative diseases. Therefore, detecting H2O2 concentrations in biological samples is crucial for elucidating its mechanisms of action in physiological and pathological processes.
The Hydrogen Peroxide Colorimetric Assay Kit (Lipid-Compatible) is designed for the colorimetric detection and quantification of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) content. The assay is based on the principle that under acidic conditions, H2O2 oxidizes Fe²+ to Fe³+. The resulting Fe³+ ions then react with a specific dye (provided in the kit) to form a colored complex. This complex exhibits a maximum absorption peak at 560 nm (or 590 nm), and its absorbance is directly proportional to the concentration of H2O2 in the sample. This kit is optimized for lipid-soluble samples. It can be used to monitor lipid peroxidation levels in lipoproteins, determining hydrogen peroxide in serum/plasma, and directly detecting hydrogen peroxide in the presence of lipids without an extraction step.
