Fingolimod

Fingolimod (CAS No.: 162359-55-9) is an immunomodulator used to treat relapsing multiple sclerosis (MS). Its mechanism of action mainly involves modulation of the 1-phosphosphingolipid (S1P) receptors on nerve cells, causing lymphocytes to be retained in lymph nodes, thereby reducing their attack on the central nervous system, lowering the relapse frequency of MS, and delaying disease progression. In vitro studies show that Fingolimod has affinity for S1P receptors in the nanomolar to micromolar range, with specific activity levels depending on experimental conditions and receptor subtypes. In cell and animal models, Fingolimod is commonly used to evaluate its effects on lymphocyte migration and immune responses, and the doses or concentrations used in experiments typically depend on the experimental design and research objectives. In addition, research on Fingolimod also involves its potential efficacy in other immune-related diseases, but specific applications are still under further exploration.
