Elagolix Sodium
Elagolix is an oral non-peptide GnRH receptor antagonist used to treat endometriosis-associated pain, among others. It competitively binds to pituitary GnRH receptors, rapidly suppresses pulsatile GnRH signaling, and reduces LH and FSH secretion, leading to a dose-dependent decrease in ovarian estradiol and progesterone levels. Low doses produce partial estrogen suppression, while high doses can approach menopause-like levels, thereby relieving symptoms of estrogen-dependent diseases; meanwhile, depending on dose and treatment duration, there are hypoestrogenism-related adverse effects such as decreased bone mineral density.
