(-)-Catechin
(-)-Catechin (CAS 18829-70-4) is one of the non-enantiomeric isomers of catechin (CAS 154-23-4), with a chiral center exhibiting a 2S,3R trans configuration.
Catechin (Catalog No. A4629) is a polyphenolic flavonoid compound that can be isolated from various natural sources, including tea leaves, grape seeds, as well as the wood and bark of trees such as acacia and mahogany. This compound is a potent antioxidant, capable of inhibiting the free radical oxidation of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) isolates induced by AAPH (Catalog No. C5140).
In a two-stage mouse skin cancer model, catechin and other related proanthocyanidin compounds have demonstrated significant antitumor activity when applied topically.
