Calcium Levofolinate

Calcium Levofolinate (CAS No.: 80433-71-2) is one of the active forms of folic acid and is widely used in biomedical research and drug development. As the calcium salt of levo-leucovorin, it can participate directly in biological processes without requiring metabolism by dihydrofolate reductase, and is commonly used as an adjuvant in cancer chemotherapy, especially in combination with 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) to enhance antitumor activity. Its primary mechanism involves the folate metabolism pathway: by providing active folate derivatives, it supports the function of thymidylate synthase, thereby affecting DNA synthesis and cell proliferation. In vitro studies show that Calcium Levofolinate can enhance the cytotoxic effect of 5-FU at low micromolar levels.
