Bilobetin is an active ingredient that lowers blood lipids and improves insulin action.Bilobetin improves insulin resistance, increases hepatic uptake and oxidation of lipids, decreases very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) triglyceride secretion and blood triglyceride levels, enhances the expression and activity of enzymes involved in β-oxidation in the tissues and attenuates the accumulation of triglycerides and their metabolites. Bilobetin also increased phosphorylation, nuclear translocation and activity, accompanied by elevated cAMP levels and activity.
