Apomine (SR-45023A) is an antitumor agent that inhibits the mevalonate/isoprene pathway in cholesterol synthesis.Apomine accelerates the degradation of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A reductase (HMGR).Apomine inhibits the growth of cells from a variety of types of cancers including lung, colon, breast, and skin cancers. In addition, Apomine induces apoptosis in tumor cell lines derived from leukemia, colon, liver, ovarian and breast cancers.
