Amsilarotene (TAC-101; Am555S) is an orally active synthetic retinoid with selective affinity for retinoic acid receptor α and values of 2.4 nM and 400 nM for RAR-α and RAR-β. Amsilarotene induces apoptosis in human gastric, hepatocellular and ovarian cancer cells. Amsilarotene can be used in cancer research.
