Background

20-Hydroxy-PGF2α (20-HydroxyPGF2α) is the ω-oxidation product of PGF2α. Type II alveolar cells cultured from pregnant rabbits metabolize exogenous PGF2α via microsomal cytochrome P450 ω-oxidation, producing 20-hydroxyPGF2α and its 15-hydroxyPGDH metabolite. Cells from male rabbits exhibited only the 15-hydroxyPGDH pathway.
