Background

N6-Methyl-ATP (m6ATP) is a base-modified analogue of adenosine and is a minor nucleotide found in natural RNA. It is commonly present in messenger RNA (mRNA) of eukaryotes, and plays a crucial regulatory role in RNA splicing, export, stability, and translation processes. N6-Methyl-ATP can serve as a substrate for in vitro RNA polymerase, and is used as a complete substitute for ATP in mRNA modification reactions. Additionally, studies have shown that N6-Methyl-ATP has an effective agonist effect on P2Y phosphoreceptors in guinea pigs and Escherichia coli.
