7-keto-Deoxycholic acid
7-keto-Deoxycholic acid is a metabolite of cholic acid in the intestinal microbiota Clostridium absonum. Research has found that this compound can also be transformed and produced by probiotics such as Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium under specific conditions, demonstrating the diverse regulation of bile acid metabolism by the intestinal flora. As a secondary bile acid, it plays a significant role in the host-microbial co-metabolic network, and its generation process depends on catalytic enzymes such as bile acid dehydrogenase expressed by microorganisms. The formation of 7-ketodeoxycholic acid not only reflects the metabolic activity of the intestinal microbiota but may also participate in lipid and glucose metabolism as well as intestinal immune regulation by regulating bile acid receptors (such as FXR and TGR5). It is one of the key molecules revealing the metabolic interaction mechanism between intestinal microbiota and the host.
