Streptavidin is a 52,800 dalton homotetramer protein. It has an extraordinarily high affinity for biotin, one molecule of streptavidin binds four molecules of biotin by a non-covalent interaction that is essentially irreversible. Streptavidin-Cy5 is useful for the detection of biotinylated antibodies, proteins, nucleic acids or other molecules in immunohistochemistry (IHC), immunocytochemistry (ICC), immunofluorescence (IF), in situ hybridization (ISH), or flow cytometry. Cy5 is excited maximally at 650 nm, emits maximally at 670 nm.
|Physical Appearance||Solution. Streptavidin-Cy5 is supplied in phosphate buffered saline (PBS), pH 7.4, containing 1% BSA, 0.1% sodium azide.|
|Storage||Store at 2-8°C. Light exposure should be avoided. Do not freeze.|
|Shipping Condition||Evaluation sample solution: ship with blue ice. All other available sizes: ship with RT, or blue ice upon request.|
|General tips||For obtaining a higher solubility, please warm the tube at 37°C and shake it in the ultrasonic bath for a while. Stock solution can be stored below -20°C for several months.|
1:20 to 1:50 dilution with PBS containing 10% normal goat serum. Working dilution for specific application should be determined by individual investigator to obtain the best conditions.
