Sincalide (Cholecystokininoctapeptide, CCK-8) is a fast-acting cholecystokinin (CCK) that is used intravenously during cholecystography.CCK-8 is a major biologically active fragment of CCK, which retains most of its biological activity. It can be injected to promote gallbladder contraction and aid in the diagnosis of gallbladder and pancreatic disease. It increases bile secretion, causes the gallbladder to contract and relaxes the sphincter of Oddi, which allows bile to drain into the duodenum.
