Penicillin-Streptomycin-Gentamicin Solution (100×)

Penicillin-Streptomycin-Gentamicin Solution (100×) is a sterile, ready-to-use triple antibiotic cocktail designed for prevention of bacterial contamination in cell culture. The solution is filter-sterilized and can be directly added to cell culture medium. It provides broad-spectrum antibacterial activity and also exhibits inhibitory effects against certain mycoplasma species. This formulation is based on our Penicillin-Streptomycin Solution (100×) (Cat# K2803), with the addition of gentamicin. Penicillin is a β-lactam antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis. Streptomycin and gentamicin are aminoglycoside antibiotics that act by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis. Gentamicin additionally offers suppressive activity against selected mycoplasma contaminants.

This product is formulated in 0.9% NaCl and contains 10,000 units/mL penicillin, 10 mg/mL streptomycin and 5 mg/mL gentamicin. It is generally used in a 100X dilution. 100 mL of this solution is sufficient to prepare 10 L of complete growth medium.
