Water soluble nitric oxide spin trap
Featured Products
DMPO (CAS 3317-61-1) is a water-soluble spin trap employed extensively in free radical research. Through electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopy, it captures transient oxygen-centered radicals such as superoxide (·O??) and hydroxyl (·OH), enabling their identification and analysis in biological systems at physiological temperature. DMPO exhibits high reaction rate constants with these radicals, facilitating their detection and differentiation. Studies in red blood and hamster V79 cells indicate rapid metabolic decay of its spin adducts, complicating cellular radical detection. In vivo evidence from heart reperfusion models also shows DMPO's utility in attenuating radical-induced injury and associated arrhythmias.
