Ro 31-8220 Mesylate
Ro 31-8220 Mesylate (CAS 138489-18-6) is a selective small molecule inhibitor of protein kinase C (PKC), targeting multiple PKC isoforms (α, βI, βII, γ, and ε) with IC50 values ranging from 5 to 27 nM. PKC constitutes a family of calcium- and phospholipid-dependent serine/threonine kinases implicated in signaling pathways associated with growth factor responses and malignant transformation. Ro 31-8220 modulates downstream targets, inhibiting MKP-1 and c-Fos expression while inducing c-Jun and activating Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) in a PKC-dependent manner. It suppresses mitogen-induced IL-2 production and T-cell proliferation, suggesting utility in immunological research, and affects glucose metabolism via JNK and glycogen synthase activation, relevant to metabolic studies.
