Background

CH 223191 (CAS 301326-22-7) is an antagonist of the aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR), a ligand-activated transcription factor involved in mediating the toxic effects associated with dioxins such as TCDD. CH 223191 potently inhibits AhR-mediated transcriptional activation induced by TCDD, exhibiting an IC?? of approximately 30 nM in cell-based assays. In vivo treatment with CH 223191 reduced hepatic cytochrome P450 1A1 expression and mitigated TCDD-induced toxic effects, such as elevated plasma AST and ALT levels and weight loss, indicating its utility as a tool compound for investigating AhR signaling pathways and dioxin toxicity.
