1,2-Dioleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phospho-L-serine sodium
1,2-Dioleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phospho-L-serine sodium (DOPS-Na) is a synthetic phospholipid and a commonly used substitute for phosphatidylserine (PS). DOPS-Na carries a negative charge and is highly lipophilic; it can be formulated together with other phospholipids such as DOPC and DOPE to prepare lipid mixtures for synthesizing liposomes with specific properties. This molecule can spontaneously self-assemble in aqueous solution to form monolayer or bilayer lipid structures resembling cell membranes, with high membrane fluidity and flexibility, which is favorable for mimicking natural biomembrane environments. It is widely used in membrane biology and cell membrane model construction, studies of protein–membrane interactions, the preparation of liposomes and nanocarriers, as well as in the design and optimization of targeted drug delivery and gene delivery systems.
