Featured Products
Vancomycin (CAS 1404-90-6) is a glycopeptide antibiotic originally isolated from Streptomyces orientalis. It exerts antibacterial activity primarily by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis through binding to D-Ala-D-Ala termini of peptidoglycan precursors, thereby preventing proper polymerization and cross-linking. Vancomycin serves as an important tool in biomedical research studying bacterial resistance mechanisms and is clinically employed in managing conditions such as Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea and enterocolitis due to methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus.
