Background

Lypressin acetate (CAS No. 83968-49-4) is a natural vasopressin (AVP) analog derived from pigs (peptide sequence: Cys(&)-Tyr-Phe-Gln-Asn-Cys(&)-Pro-Lys-Gly-NH₂). Its key structural difference from AVP (CAS No. 113-79-1, Catalog No.: BA5830) lies in the substitution of arginine (Arg) with lysine (Lys) at the 8th amino acid position. Its core biological functions involve activating G protein-coupled receptors V1a, V1b, and V2, thereby exerting antidiuretic, vasoconstrictive, and hemostatic effects. It can improve vasomotor tone and blood pressure, and is used in the treatment of diabetes insipidus. Additionally, it possesses potential anti-SARS-CoV-2 activity by binding to the viral RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp). Its biological activity is quantified in units: antidiuretic activity ranges from 203±7 to 240±13 units/mg, vasopressor activity from 243±3 to 266±18 units/mg, and oxytocic activity from 4.8±0.3 to 7.3±0.2 units/mg. Common application concentrations: clinically administered as a nasal spray, with a duration of action of 8 hours after a single use; the plasma half-life in animal experiments is 5-7 minutes. The effective therapeutic concentration corresponds to the clinical dosage of the nasal spray, which can safely alleviate symptoms of diabetes insipidus without increasing blood pressure, and exhibits good safety in pregnant women and parturient patients.
