Trisdecanoin

Trisdecanoin (Tricaprin; Glyceryl tridecanoate) is an orally available triacylglycerol composed of three decanoic acid (capric acid) chains that serves as a precursor of decanoic acid, providing a rapid, readily oxidized energy source while modulating lipid and glucose metabolism. As a major component of medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs), it exhibits preventive or inhibitory effects on abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA), shows cardiovascular-protective activity, and has potential non‑steroidal antiandrogen (NSAA) and antihyperglycemic properties. In addition to its use as a research tool and analytical standard for triacylglycerol quantification, Trisdecanoin is also employed as an additive in food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic formulations, where it can function as a thickening and skin-conditioning agent.
