SIBA (5'-Isobutylthioadenosine) is an inhibitor (analog) with potent antiproliferative activity.SIBA reversibly inhibits the production of HSV-1 by blocking methylation, in particular by blocking the capping of the 5' end of viral mRNAs.SIBA also inhibits the growth of tumor cell lines in vitro and metastatic spread in vivo.SIBA can be used in cancer, HSV-1 infection and anti-malarial studies.
