Background

Phenoxodiol (Idronoxil) is a synthetic analog of Genestein that activates the mitochondrial system and inhibits (an inhibitor of apoptosis), sensitizing cancer cells to Fas-mediated apoptosis.Phenoxodiol also inhibits DNA topoisomerase II by stabilizing the fissionable complex, thus preventing DNA replication. Phenoxodiol induces cell cycle arrest during the G1/S phase of the cell cycle by upregulating p21 in a p53-independent manner.
