Ombitasvir (CAS No.: 1258226-87-7) is a small-molecule compound used to treat hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. As an HCV nonstructural protein 5A (NS5A) inhibitor, Ombitasvir interferes with viral RNA replication and virion assembly by inhibiting NS5A protein function. In vitro studies show that Ombitasvir has EC50 values ranging from 0.82 to 19.3 picomolar against HCV genotypes 1 to 5, and an EC50 of 366 picomolar against genotype 6a. In addition, Ombitasvir exhibits potent antiviral activity in the Huh-7 cell model, with a cytotoxicity CC50 greater than 1 nanomolar, indicating good safety. Ombitasvir is often used in combination with other anti-HCV drugs, such as in a fixed-dose combination with paritaprevir, ritonavir, and dasabuvir for the treatment of HCV infection. The dose or concentration used in experiments typically depends on the experimental design and research objectives.
