Mitoguazone (Methylglyoxal-bis(guanylhydrazone)) is a synthetic polycarbony derivative with potent antitumor activity.Mitoguazone is a competitive inhibitor of S-adenosyl-methionine decarboxylase that crosses the blood-brain barrier and disrupts polyamine biosynthesis. Mitoguazone induces apoptosis and inhibits integration into cellular DNA in monocytes and macrophages.Mitoguazone is used in acute leukemia, Hodgkin's lymphoma, and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma studies.
