Linoleic Acid ethyl ester
Linoleic Acid ethyl ester (CAS No.: 544-35-4) is the esterified form of linoleic acid and is widely used in biomedical research and drug development. As a naturally occurring unsaturated fatty acid, it plays an important role in regulating various biochemical pathways. Its notable properties include inhibition of the Akt/GSK3β/β-catenin signaling pathway and NF-κB activation, signaling pathways that play key roles in the regulation of cell survival, proliferation, and immune responses. In addition, this compound can induce the expression of heme oxygenase-1 while inhibiting tyrosinase, making it of particular interest in studies of oxidative stress and pigmentation disorders. In in vitro studies, Linoleic Acid ethyl ester has shown inhibitory effects at low micromolar levels against multiple bacterial strains such as S. mutans and P. gingivalis, as well as the fungus C. albicans. Studies indicate that Linoleic Acid ethyl ester has functional effects in research on mechanisms of inflammatory diseases, particularly in terms of anti-inflammatory capacity and promoting compound absorption. In addition, studies using high-cholesterol diet animal models, such as hypercholesterolemic rabbits, suggest its potential in the prevention of atherosclerosis. The concentrations or doses used in experiments generally depend on the specific experimental design and research objectives, and its combined biological activities make it a multifunctional tool for studying inflammatory pathways and the inhibition of microbial growth.
