L-a-Hydroxyglutaric acid disodium salt
L-a-Hydroxyglutaric acid disodium salt (CAS: 63512-50-5) is a salt derivative of L-α-hydroxyglutaric acid, a metabolite implicated in the rare condition L-α-hydroxyglutaric aciduria due to dysfunction of L-2-hydroxyglutarate dehydrogenase. It is employed experimentally to enhance stabilization and recovery yield of hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α), a recognized indicator of tumor hypoxia. Additionally, it functions as a research tool in enzymatic assays evaluating modulation of TET family methylcytosine dioxygenases. In animal models, the compound promotes oxidative stress, evidenced by elevated brain chemiluminescence and lipid peroxidation, effects mitigated by antioxidant treatments. Currently, this molecule remains in preclinical investigational stages.
