Fluoroquinolone antibiotic,inhibits bacterial TOPO II
Featured Products
Gatifloxacin(CAS No. 112811-59-3) is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that functions by inhibiting bacterial type II topoisomerases, enzymes essential for bacterial DNA replication and transcription. Specifically, it targets DNA gyrase in Gram-negative bacteria and topoisomerase IV in Gram-positive bacteria. Experimental data indicate that gatifloxacin inhibits DNA gyrase from E. coli and topoisomerase IV from S. aureus with IC50 values of approximately 0.109 μg/ml and 13.8 μg/ml, respectively. Due to this selective inhibitory action, it serves as a useful research tool in microbiological studies, investigating antimicrobial resistance mechanisms, and exploring bacterial genome replication processes.
