Background

Ethyl 7-(diethylamino) -2-oxo-2h-Chromene-3-carboxylate is a coumarin derivative. Studies have shown that the compound is a potent selective inhibitor of human monoamine oxidase B (hMAO-B). hMAO-B is an important enzyme involved in the metabolism of the neurotransmitter dopamine, and its inhibitors have potential therapeutic value in the treatment of Parkinson's disease, depression, and neurodegenerative diseases. The compound reduces dopamine degradation by selectively inhibiting hMAO-B activity, thereby increasing dopamine levels in the brain and improving neural function.
