Citrate Synthase Activity Assay Kit
Citrate synthase (CS) is a key rate-limiting enzyme in the mitochondrial tricarboxylic acid cycle. Its activity directly reflects the functional state of cellular mitochondria. Measuring citrate synthase activity is crucial for research on cellular energy metabolism, mitochondria-related diseases, and aging mechanisms.
The Citrate Synthase Activity Assay Kit provides a simple and sensitive method to measure citrate synthase activity in tissues, cells, and purified mitochondria. Citrate synthase catalyzes the reaction between acetyl-CoA and oxaloacetate to form citrate and liberate free CoA-SH. The free CoA-SH then reacts specifically with the chromogenic agent DTNB, generating a yellow product. This product has strong absorbance at 412 nm, and the absorbance intensity is directly proportional to citrate synthase activity.
