Antazoline
Antazoline (CAS No.: 91-75-8) is a histamine H1 receptor antagonist whose unique anticholinergic and antiviral properties make it an important tool in biomedical research and drug discovery. As a member of the antihistamine class, Antazoline blocks the physiological effects of histamine through reversible competition at histamine receptor sites, thereby showing potential applications in the exploration of allergic and cardiovascular diseases. Its mechanism of action includes exerting anti-allergic effects by inhibiting H1 receptors. In addition, Antazoline has demonstrated significant antiviral activity in in vitro studies against hepatitis B virus (HBV), particularly by effectively reducing HBV DNA in the extracellular fluids of HepAD38 and Huh7 cell lines, with its effective concentration value (EC50) recorded at low micromolar levels. These findings suggest its potential utility in studying antiviral responses and heart diseases, such as arrhythmias associated with acute myocardial infarction. The inhibition of viral replication by Antazoline and its cardiac effects provide a basis for its application in various in vitro and in vivo research models, in which its effects on histamine-induced pathways and cardiac conductivity can be further elucidated. Laboratory applications are typically adjusted in concentration according to specific research objectives, thereby facilitating a range of investigations from basic cellular assays to more complex system studies.
