8-Methoxypsoralen
8-Methoxypsoralen (CAS 298-81-7) is a tricyclic furocoumarin compound, functioning as a suicide inhibitor of cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzymes. By irreversibly binding to CYP active sites, 8-Methoxypsoralen effectively impedes enzymatic activity, thereby modulating metabolic pathways involving CYPs. Comparative studies indicate that 8-Methoxypsoralen demonstrates greater inhibitory potency against CYP enzymes than related furanocoumarins such as 5-MOP, 5-hydroxypsoralen, dihydro-8-MOP, and psoralen. This compound is widely employed in the investigation of CYP-mediated metabolism, drug-drug interactions, and enzyme inhibition mechanisms.
